Anodes with Stainless Steel Fitting

Product Warranty, Use, Terms and Conditions Agreement

“Anode assembly” or “anode” or “powered anode” means an assemblage of which a part is mountable to a water tank. “Power supply” or “adapter” means an electrical assemblage that converts a value of electrical power into another value.  “Product” or “the product” means the item or item package which contains generally at a minimum the anode assembly. “STOLTCO” or “us” or “we” refers to the product manufacturer “STOLTCO, LLC”.  STOLTCO LLC reserves the right to modify the terms and conditions of this policy to better serve its customers.  To view the most recent policy visit manufacturer website.  This policy shall apply to all anodes and associated products unless otherwise specified.

Use of tools can pose dangers not limited to but consisting of cuts, bruises, eye damage, burns, pinches, blows, etc, and any persons performing handling or installation of product is recommended to use safety equipment and to be aware of all associated risks and safety precautions and to have knowledge of proper tool and equipment and product use.  Powered anode assembly is not expected to pose any extraordinary danger, but the following risks (not limited to these) may apply: The anode assembly contains Stainless Steel (including Chromium and nickel) and Iridium oxide, and so if there are known allergies to these then please do not handle, though it should be noted that most “silverware” is stainless steel with chromium and as of the date of this writing we have not had any reports of allergic reactions to either element of the stainless steel or the iridium oxide found on the electrode.  The anode assembly has some weight to it and may also have sharp areas and is generally made from hard materials, and so (especially if dropped), can pose risk of puncture, laceration, or blunt trauma injury to skin or body parts. The anode assembly when electrified is generally of what UL terms “low voltage”, and is generally of a DC voltage of less than 40 volts and an amperage less than 0.025A, which appears quite small while in comparison to household electricity of 120v and 15.0A that is commonly interacted with with common household appliance plugs, but nonetheless can carry risk of electrical shock, generating heat or flame, or damaging sensitive electrical equipment it comes in contact with. Persons with electrical implants (such as electric heart implants) should not handle or install the adapter, or only handle or install upon approval of a medical professional.   During normal use after installation it is not expected that the electrical current will be substantive greater than 6-inches distal from the inside wall of the tank where the anode assembly is installed, and that the voltage will be between 2 and 5 volts, and the current between 0.005A and 0.035A.  Over its lifetime it is expected that most or all of the “mixed metal oxide” material on the anode assembly including the iridium oxide will be eroded in the natural designed electrical process of protecting the tank and mix with the water; of note as of this writing iridium oxide is not classified as hazardous and the weight amount eroded is approximately <0.0014g over 20 years.  The adapter or “power supply” recommended for use with the anode may utilize household mains electricity that is generally 120v AC which in turn generally provides access to 15A current; as is generally widely known, household electricity can be dangerous and you should avoid being shocked, as this electricity poses risk of damage to any great number of items it contacts, and contact with living organisms can cause electrocution or burns which can result in serious injury or death. The power supply converts the household electricity into a DC (direct current, not-alternating) voltage.  The power supply exterior is generally made of a flame-resistant polymer, and the cord generally made from PVC polymer, and the power supply generally meets UL or ETF standards.  If the plastics of the adapter are substantially heated so as to cause breakdown they or components interior to them may emit fumes that are hazardous to health, even if no visible flame develops.  The adapter, cord, and any parts attached to it should not be allowed to get wet, nor within flames, nor rest upon surfaces or be in environments hotter than 50°c (about 122°F). When not in use with the powered anode, the adapter should be unplugged.  Any electrical cables should not be pinched, cut, scraped, bent to a radius tighter than 0.2in, or damaged, as risk of cord failure and unintended electrical current discharge is increased.  Unless otherwise specified in installation instructions the following holds true for the “powered anode” (part that is installed on the water tank): (1) The powered anode should be installed such that the electrode is pointing “down” toward earth’s center of gravity (2) prior to installation water pressure should be safely relieved from the system (3) prior to use, the anode should be inspected for defects such as damaged threads or black electrode bent more than 1.5” off central axis of fitting and not used if such defects are present (4) anode shall not be “cross-threaded” during installation (5) anodes with metal threads should not be tightened more than 80-foot-lbs, and should only be tightened with a hex socket under hand power and a thread-sealant should be used (6) anodes should not be removed from equipment until any water pressure has been relieved from the system and the level of water is below the point at which the anode was installed (list end).

Installation or use of the equipment or product constitutes agreement with this policy.  Use of time, tools, equipment, material goods, products, resources or services other than “anode assembly” and “power supply” are not covered by warranty. STOLTCO and related parties shall not be liable for any damages caused by any leaks, largely due to the nature of causation often due to a combination of, or a great variety of environmental factors, including by not limited to installation process, handling of equipment, tools used, water quality, stray electrical currents, quality of inspection of parts tools or installation, and acts of God.  If the anode does leak, please contact us as soon as possible as we will genuinely work to solve any issues related to it.  Our goal is to sell the best anode in the world. We uphold rigorous quality controls to prevent the manufacturing and sale of equipment that could leak or otherwise perform not as intended under normal operating conditions.  For best experience please read installation instructions and make sure not to damage the threads on the fitting and to use thread sealant.  Our testing shows any failure of the anode is extremely unlikely to occur after a proper installation, however we urge prudence on the part of the buyer to check the anode and all related systems regularly, adding it to a home maintenance checklist, to ensure proper working order at all times, and in the chance that any failure occurs that it is caught early on so as to preserve not just the anode but also all associated equipment, as well as to give peace of mind.  Even in cases of improper installation (cross-threading, or dropped or broken equipment, etc.) please contact us so we can help.  We’re out to sell the best anodes in the world, and this extensive warranty policy is a part of that effort.  The materials used will in most cases far outlast human lifetimes. In the event that a dispute occurs, our efforts for favorability to both parties generally due to lower costs, faster resolutions, and more flexible and more friendly process, -both parties agree to settle disputes out-of-court with a single neutral arbitrator, located with seller agreement with a neutral arbitrator found by either or both parties and agreed upon by both parties or a neutral arbitrator located within 150 miles of the seller’s place of business.  As of yet this has not been needed. Failures have been extremely low even with first-generation polymer anodes, and in even the cases where user installation error caused an issue: we helped.  Our goal is to have customers 19 years 11 months and 31 days from their original purchase date look at their working anode and know that they made the right choice going with us.  Thank you! We are glad to serve you.  Any questions or comments, concerns, or ideas for improvement can be delivered via the online contact form at stoltco.com/contact.
